Glendale

For years Glendale was advertised as one of the safest cities of it size and I believe this continues to be true. Other than taking the train to San Diego, I haven't used public transportation.

RE: small dogs, be careful of living in the Foothills - coyotes

Restaurants and night life - absolutley - Jacks (jazz on Brand Blvd used to be a hot spot - I haven't been in ages).

Welcome to Glendale

Glendale is a wonderful community and centrally located to Los Angeles and just about everything. I think you will be very happy here.

Public Transportation:
If you are hoping to find public transportation more similar to New York, you may be prefer Pasadena. Here is a link to a map of the Glendale B (bus) line

Safety
Glendale is one of the ten safest cities in California

Parking
In some of the higher density neighborhoods found S. of the 134 freeway, can be difficult. Typically just the areas with a high concentration of condos and/or apartments.

Night Life
Depends what you are looking for, but yes there are numerous options in Glendale and nearby.

Restaurants
My favorites: Far Niente, Mori’s Teppan Grill, and Mario’s Italian Deli

Where to walk your dogs

I used to live in Glendale but now live in Washington state.
We are avid dog walkers so let me tell you about where we loved
to take our dogs.....
Brand Park is a wonderful park in the hills of Glendale. However,
there might be an occasional coyote and some deer, I have never
experienced seeing a wild cat roaming the area.
It's wonderful to live in Glendale and surrounding area so enjoy, I
truly miss it. Expecially the shows & theatre in Los Angeles, don't
have the opportunity here in Washington except for local theatre.
Which reminds me, we always enjoyed the Glendale Centre theatre
(in the round), hope you'll avail yourself of that sometime.

Glendale

The best part about Glendale is that you are removed from the negatives of living in a big urban city but are also close enough to that very same city to enjoy the positive aspects of big city life (Restaurants, clubs, sporting venues and the theater etc.)

How right you are!

We are totally removed from a large city so we have to depend on local amusments to keep us occupied. Like fishing in our lakes & oceans, beach walking and visiting with friends. Enjoyed the city lifefor 30 + years and now we enjoy retirement in a much more laid back town.
But will never forget our wonderful "working days" in good ole Glendale.
